The Risk team supports Wakam’s financial strength, governance, and sustainable growth.
The team identifies, assesses, and manages risks across the Group while helping business teams build risk management and control frameworks suited to their activities.
Risk works closely with Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting, Reinsurance, Compliance, Audit, Data, IT, Operations, and Partnership teams. The team also supports governance bodies by providing an independent and forward-looking view of Wakam’s risk profile.
As Chief Risk Officer, you will act as Wakam’s Risk Management Key Function Holder under the Solvency II framework.
You will define, implement, and continuously improve Wakam’s risk management framework. You will provide an independent view of the Group’s risk exposure, the effectiveness of its internal control framework, and the alignment between strategy, risk appetite, operating model, and prudential requirements.
You will advise the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and governance committees on risk, solvency, internal control, and resilience. Your role is to support Wakam’s growth while maintaining a high standard of risk management across the organisation.
Define and maintain Wakam’s risk management strategy, risk appetite framework, policies, limits, alert thresholds, and reporting arrangements.
Ensure that risk considerations are reflected in strategic decisions, new partnerships, product launches, changes to the distribution model, transformation projects, underwriting decisions, and reinsurance decisions.
Provide independent and constructive input to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and relevant governance committees.
Deliver clear reporting on key risks, emerging trends, mitigation actions, and decisions required from senior management.
Lead the risk management framework across Wakam’s full perimeter, including:
Underwriting and pricing risks
Reinsurance risks
Financial, market, and liquidity risks
Operational risks
Risks linked to partners, delegated activities, and outsourcing
Compliance and conduct risks
Technology, cyber, and information security risks
Legal, strategic, reputational, and emerging risks
Support business teams in designing and operating their first-line controls.
Define, manage, and execute the second-line control plan.
Ensure the quality of controls, the follow-up of recommendations, the implementation of remediation plans, and the timely closure of identified issues.
Coordinate risk and governance work related to Solvency II requirements, including risk assessments, scenario analysis, stress testing, and prudential reporting inputs.
Build a practical risk culture suited to Wakam’s international, digital, and partnership-led business model.
Raise awareness among senior leaders and employees on risk management and internal control.
Support business teams in understanding and managing their risks as part of day-to-day decision-making.
Challenge decisions constructively, escalate material concerns when needed, and propose solutions proportionate to the level of risk.
Represent the Risk function in discussions with supervisory authorities, auditors, statutory auditors, and other external stakeholders.
Monitor regulatory, prudential, and market developments relevant to Wakam.
Update policies, procedures, and risk management practices to keep the framework effective and aligned with regulatory expectations.
You hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance, Risk Management, Audit, Law, or a related discipline.
You bring significant and proven experience in senior risk management, internal control, compliance, internal audit, prudential finance, or governance roles within the insurance sector or another highly regulated financial environment.
Proven experience as a Risk Management Key Function Holder, or in a comparable regulated key function role, is required.
You have strong knowledge of:
Solvency II requirements and governance expectations
Risk management, internal control, and second-line control frameworks
Risk appetite, risk reporting, scenario analysis, and stress testing
Financial, prudential, actuarial, and technical insurance topics
Underwriting, reinsurance, delegation, outsourcing, and partnership-related risks
Governance and reporting mechanisms for Executive Management and Boards
Full professional fluency in French and English is required. International experience and additional European languages are a plus.
You are a recognised senior risk leader who combines independent judgement, technical rigour, and a strong understanding of business priorities.
You are comfortable presenting complex risk topics to senior leaders and governance bodies. You know how to turn technical analysis into clear, structured, and actionable recommendations.
You can challenge stakeholders constructively, build trusted relationships across functions, and bring clarity to complex situations. You combine strategic perspective, strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and cross-functional leadership.
At Wakam, data, automation, and AI are changing risk management and internal control practices.
You are interested in digital tools and practical applications that can improve data quality, anomaly detection, control monitoring, reporting, and knowledge sharing.
You ensure that any new tools or approaches are used within a robust framework of governance, security, documentation, and compliance.
Joining Wakam as Chief Risk Officer means taking on a role with direct influence over governance, solvency, strategic decision-making, and risk management.
You will work closely with the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and key functions in an environment where digital transformation, international distribution, partnerships, and business growth create meaningful risk topics.
This is an opportunity to help shape Wakam’s next stage of development within a mission-driven company that combines innovation, performance, and disciplined risk management.
