Description

At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we are building the next generation of cloud services for autonomous and intelligent robotics. The OCI Robotics Cloud team is developing a secure, scalable, cloud-native robotics platform that enables customers to onboard, manage, monitor, and operate heterogeneous robot fleets across industries.

Our platform provides cloud services for robot registration and identity, fleet and mission management, telemetry and observability, digital twins, simulation, software lifecycle management, and AI-powered robotic applications.

A key focus of the team is an AI-assisted, spec-driven robot onboarding platform that transforms robot integration from a manual engineering effort into a scalable software engineering workflow. Using standardized service contracts, edge specifications, reusable adapters, SDKs, and AI-generated implementation guidance, our platform enables robots from different vendors to integrate rapidly through consistent cloud interfaces.

We are also developing capabilities that connect simulation, operational robot data, continuous learning, and emerging VLM/VLA and embodied AI technologies, creating a foundation for robotic systems that can be developed, evaluated, deployed, and continuously improved at fleet scale.

Our vision is to make robot onboarding as simple and repeatable as cloud onboarding while enabling increasingly intelligent and autonomous robotic systems.

As a Principal Platform Software Engineer, you will own a major product service or platform component within OCI Robotics Cloud. You will define its architecture and technical design, drive execution from concept through production, and lead cross-functional collaboration required to deliver scalable, reliable robotics cloud capabilities.

If you are excited about owning complex systems at the intersection of AI, cloud infrastructure, edge computing, simulation, and robotics, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, design, implementation, and evolution of a major Robotics Cloud service or platform component.

  • Drive projects end to end, from requirements and technical design through implementation, testing, launch, production operations, and continuous improvement.

  • Build scalable cloud-native services supporting robot onboarding and identity, fleet management, mission orchestration, telemetry, digital twins, simulation, AI-powered robotics, and software lifecycle management.

  • Define secure APIs, service contracts, SDKs, and edge interfaces that enable integration with robots from multiple vendors.

  • Develop AI-assisted, spec-driven robot onboarding capabilities, including integration specifications, reusable adapters, SDKs, validation, and developer workflows.

  • Design systems that connect simulation, robot telemetry, evaluation, deployment, and learning feedback loops.

  • Develop platform capabilities that enable integration with VLM/VLA, multimodal, embodied AI, and agentic robotics systems.

  • Drive cross-functional execution with product, robotics, AI, cloud infrastructure, security, and partner engineering teams.

  • Resolve complex technical issues and dependencies while balancing scalability, reliability, security, extensibility, operational excellence, and time to market.

  • Lead technical designs, architecture reviews, code reviews, debugging, and production readiness for the components you own.

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to broader Robotics Cloud architecture and engineering standards.

  • Apply an AI-native engineering process across design, implementation, testing, debugging, evaluation, and documentation to enable rapid experimentation and iteration while maintaining production-quality engineering standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.

  • 7+ years of software development experience building backend services, distributed systems, cloud platforms, or related production systems.

  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.

  • Experience designing and building REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

  • Experience with cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and container orchestration.

  • Experience building scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable production software.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently own complex technical projects from architecture and design through production delivery.

  • Strong software architecture, design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience driving technical execution across multiple teams or functional areas.

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science, Robotics, AI/ML, or a related field.

  • Experience owning and delivering a major production cloud service, platform component, robotics system, or distributed application.

  • Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS 2 and communication technologies such as DDS, MQTT, OPC UA, VDA5050, or similar protocols.

  • Experience with robot simulation environments such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Gazebo, Webots, or similar platforms.

  • Experience building simulation-based development, testing, validation, evaluation, or synthetic-data workflows for robots or autonomous systems.

  • Experience with vision-language models (VLMs), vision-language-action (VLA) models, multimodal foundation models, embodied AI, or agentic robotics systems.

  • Experience applying AI/ML to robotics tasks such as perception, planning, navigation, manipulation, task understanding, or robot control.

  • Experience with reinforcement learning, imitation learning, continual learning, online adaptation, or sim-to-real techniques.

  • Experience designing systems that connect simulation, training, evaluation, deployment, telemetry, and continuous improvement.

  • Experience integrating robots, autonomous systems, IoT devices, or edge systems with cloud services.

  • Familiarity with secure robot/device identity, edge computing, OTA software deployment, workload identity, or zero-trust architectures.

  • Experience designing APIs, SDKs, service contracts, developer platforms, or adapter frameworks for heterogeneous systems.

  • Experience applying AI-native engineering practices, including AI-assisted coding, specification-driven development, automated test generation, code generation, or agentic development workflows.

Why Join Us

OCI Robotics Cloud is building the cloud platform and developer infrastructure for heterogeneous intelligent robot fleets at enterprise scale, rather than focusing on a single robot or robotics application.

You will own meaningful platform capabilities from architecture through production and help define common abstractions that allow robots from different vendors to operate through consistent cloud services.
