We are looking for an Application Support Engineer to join our Securities Services team, providing technical and functional support for Payment Processing applications within the German market scope. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of business-critical applications, while collaborating closely with business users, development teams, and other IT stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide application support and incident management for Payment Processing platforms within Securities Services.
  • Understand business workflows, processes, and operational requirements to effectively support users and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ensure adequate support coverage during assigned shifts and contribute to operational excellence.
  • Manage and prioritize incidents, service requests, and tasks received through ticketing systems, emails, or direct communication.
  • Communicate effectively with business users, project teams, and stakeholders regarding incident resolution, ongoing tasks, and project updates.
  • Investigate root causes of incidents and identify opportunities for permanent fixes and process improvements.
  • Monitor application performance and proactively identify potential risks or system issues.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing by documenting procedures, incidents, solutions, and best practices.
  • Support onboarding and training activities for team members.
  • Continuously improve operational processes through scripting, automation, and optimization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams during deployments, releases, and system upgrades.
  • Participate in on-call support, weekend, and holiday coverage on a rotational basis when required.
    • Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.
    • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
    • Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Shell, Python, Bash, or similar).
    • Strong Oracle SQL knowledge (mandatory).
    • Experience in application troubleshooting, incident analysis, and problem management.
    • Understanding of production support environments and operational processes.
    • Familiarity with Ansible and DevOps practices.
    • Knowledge of Unix environments is considered a plus.
    • ITIL certification or understanding of ITIL processes is an advantage.

    Language Requirements

    • English: Professional / Fluent (mandatory)

    Nice to Have

    • Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Securities Services, or Payment Processing environments.
    • Exposure to production support within mission-critical applications.
    • Knowledge of automation and operational efficiency best practices.
    • Experience working in international and multicultural teams.

    Lisbon OR Porto - Hybrid 50%
