The Platform Identity team builds the secure foundation that enables millions of users to access the Splunk and Cisco ecosystem seamlessly and safely. Our mission is to deliver a centralized Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform that is scalable, resilient, and intelligent. We are a highly collaborative engineering group working across product, security, and infrastructure teams to unify identity across the entire portfolio. Your Impact

As a Software Engineer you will design, build, and operate the core identity services that power authentication, authorization, and user lifecycle management across Splunk and Cisco products. You will architect scalable and secure APIs, unify identity systems, and serve as a subject matter expert on modern identity protocols. Your work will directly strengthen platform security, improve customer trust, and influence our long-term identity strategy. You will also explore opportunities to use AI/ML to increase automation and improve identity protection. Success in this role means delivering reliable services, driving technical perfection, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to ship impactful solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong, recent hands-on C++ AND/OR Go experience building secure, scalable, high-throughput production services.

  • Experience designing and operating secure, distributed, fault-tolerant systems.

  • Hands-on knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, token and session lifecycle, and authorization models such as RBAC and ABAC.

  • Strong automated-testing, debugging, observability, and production-support skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous C++ experience sufficient to read, understand, and diagnose behavior in Splunkd or authentication-integration code.

  • Experience working across Go services and existing C++ components, including integration or incremental modernization.

  • OAuth device-code flow, CLI authentication, Okta, service identities, and secure-production-access workflows.

  • Performance profiling, complex production debugging, and incident response.

  • LDAP, KV Store, SAML migration or deprecation, and identity-platform integration.

  • Go-based sidecars, service runtimes, and host/service integration.

  • Kubernetes-based service operations, E2E test pipelines, and production dashboards.

  • Secure-access auditing, access windows, session management, or policy enforcement.
